September Recap & October Plans

Happy October! šŸ‚

As I sit down to write this, I can’t believe how quickly September flew by. It was a month full of steady progress, a few new homemaking adventures, and some fresh intentions for the season ahead. Here’s a look at what I’ve been working on and what I’m looking forward to in October.

Knitting Updates 🧶

Most of my knitting energy has been focused on my Knit-Along projects — the Ranunculus Sweater and the Arctic Light Sweater. Progress has been intentionally slow, because I’m pacing myself alongside those who are knitting with me. That way, if someone runs into a tricky section, I can help answer questions in real time.

On the side, I finally finished my long garter ridge scarf! This was a simple, soothing knit — I cast on 36 stitches and just kept going until the yarn ran out. It’s one of those comforting projects that doesn’t need much thought, just steady stitches.

Sewing Adventures āœ‚ļø

I’ve also been dipping my toes into sewing. My latest project was an apron — let’s just say it came with a few beginner mistakes, but also plenty of lessons learned! I’m planning to make another apron soon, this time with more confidence.

One of them will even be a prize for my upcoming chili cook-off next month. I can’t wait to see someone walk away with a handmade piece from me.

I also have made a couple of tote bags, great for my projects. I just opened a new pattern that has pockets on the outside of the bag, really excited to do this one.

Homemaking & Kitchen Wins šŸž

On the homemaking front, baking has been big for me lately. With store shelves running low on good-quality bread, I decided to take matters into my own hands.

I’ve been making fresh white bread loaves at home, and honestly, the difference in taste and texture is amazing. Denser, heartier, and just more satisfying. It feels good to have something so simple and nourishing always on hand.

I also made a little upgrade for my cleaning routine. With cats in the house, hair on the floors is a daily reality, so I picked up a Tineco wet vac *affiliate link(on sale for $129 at Walmart). It’s been such a game-changer on my wood floors — no stickiness, no excess water, just clean. The only warning? Do not forget to empty the dirty water bucket after each use… unless you want a smell that will haunt you! Lesson learned, but I’m so glad I bought it. If you use the link above to purchase one fit thr home, thank you 😊.

Gardening Plans 🌱

I’m a bit late getting started, but I’m determined to set up my garden towers this week. I bought pavers to give them a solid base, so I can reclaim my deck for socializing instead of planting. My fall lineup includes greens like lettuce, spinach, collards, kale, and even some potatoes. Thankfully, our growing season is long enough that I should be able to get a decent harvest through the fall and winter.

Health & Lifestyle Intentions šŸ’Ŗ

Today is October 1st, and with a new month, I’m also setting some personal goals. My biggest intention right now is working toward better health — not only for weight loss, but because I’d love to get off blood pressure medication before I turn 50 next July.

This time, instead of following every trend or bit of ā€œadviceā€ I see online, I’m focusing on the basics: smaller portions, smarter choices, and exploring different styles of cooking. It feels less like a diet and more like a lifestyle shift I can actually sustain.

Looking Ahead šŸ‘—

By the time November rolls around, I’m hoping to share the start of a new knitting project: a bell-sleeve dress that’s been on my mind for my January make. The pattern is written in a very wordy style (I’m much more of a charts knitter), so it’ll be a fun challenge to work through line by line. I’m excited to see how it takes shape and share it with you all.

Thank you so much for subscribing and following along with my journey — whether it’s knitting, sewing, homemaking, or gardening. I love having this space to share what I’ve been learning and creating. Until next time, take care, and I’ll see you in my next newsletter or video.
