Hey friends!
We are officially in beach countdown mode, and I couldn't be more excited to pack my semi handmade wardrobe. I've been knitting with true focus and I have two super fun summer-friendly projects to share ā both from Knitatude, which as you already know is one of my, if mot my fave, go-to designers.
š§¶ Project 1: Confidence Crop Turned Tank Top

Letās start with my Confidence Crop... or should I say, my Confidence Tank! This pattern is originally a cropped top worked in DK weight/Category 3 yarn, and it's a paid-for pattern designed by Knitatude!
Modifications I made:
Lengthened the body for a bit more coverage (because beach breeze doesnāt need to meet belly button š).
Customized the fit by starting with the 3X numbers and then decreasing to the 2X once I got close to the armholes. This helped it hug my bust and shoulders just right ā no gaping, no flopping, just confident vibes only.
I used Premier Cotton Sprout Worsted, let me know if you agree it feels more like a DK weight than the claimed worsted weight. Still, the fabric turned out buttery soft and breathable ā exactly what I wanted. I chose a color-block combo: a rich blue on the bottom and a clean white up top. She fits like a dream, feels like a hug, and Iām absolutely wearing this to the beach the minute we get there!
š§¶ Project 2: Lakeside Wrap in Lime
Next up is the Lakeside Wrap, also by Knitatude, this

oneās a free pattern on her blog ā score! Think breezy, mesh-like summer layering piece, but all knitted, no crochet here.
I used a bright lime green 100% cotton yarn from Hobby Lobby, and let me just say: this color POPS. Itās basically shouting, āIām handmade and fabulous!ā The pattern calls for size 15 needles, which scared me at first (giant needles = hand cramps, right?) ā but surprisingly, the loose stitches have been super kind to my hands. Itās working up fast, itās light and airy, and itās giving major beach goddess energy.
š§µ Sewing Plans: My First Summer Me-Mades?
While I havenāt finished any sewing projects just yet, Iāve got plans and materials, which is basically step one of any creative rabbit hole. I caught a great sale at Simplicity and grabbed a few beginner-friendly patterns ā Iām talking tank tops, dresses, and even shorts. To top it off, I snagged some affordable fabric rolls from Walmart just to practice with.
I did place an order for some real fabric at Mood Fabrics...4 yards for $12 I think and its perfectly colorful.
So who knows? Maybe Iāll be rocking an entirely handmade outfit head to toe soon. But even if it doesn't make the beach bag, it's going to be such a fun journey, and Iām learning as I go!
